The Occasional Orchestra
July 13, 2019 @ 9:00 pm - 12:00 am
This band of five men and one woman have made it their mission over recent years to play their uplifting and intelligent songs to appreciative audiences across the UK and beyond. They have an ever growing back catalogue of recorded singles and albums, most recently working with top Producer Matt Terry (The Enemy, Don Broco) to produce their finest album to date Urban Foxes, crowd funded by the band’s loyal following on Kickstarter.
The combination of compelling hooks, sweet harmonies, insightful lyrics and accomplished musicianship has led them to be described as “The Mumford and Sons you don’t want to punch” by Richard O’Hagan of RNR magazine. Not that The Occasional Orchestra would hold with punching fellow musicians of course.
A BBC radio session in 2018 followed the release of Glue – a single to raise money for valuable music therapy for sufferers of dementia. The authentic and moving video has so far been viewed by half a million people.
The band’s passion is playing live in all manner of venues in the UK and beyond, and their energetic and committed performances are very well received by festival crowds and small venue goers alike where their unique blend of story-telling and song-writing seems to have captured a mood.
